There is a tendency to associate the concepts of Holocaust or the extermination camps with the Nazi plan of eliminating the Jewish community. Nevertheless it is not so when it comes to the Spanish participation in this tragedy, skipped even nowadays in most history texts.

The efforts of the ‘Final Solution’ to destroy the opposition to the fascist regime should not overshadow the significant presence of Spanish republicans in the Nazi concentration and extermination camps: between 10 and 15 thousand Spaniards who fought for their ideals which had been trampled by the fascists in their homeland, and afterwards suffered the horrors of the Nazi camps.
